OUR PAPER

The Proof is in the
Paper

Every Thovia notebook uses the same 160gsm acid-free white paper. Before anything was printed, it was tested with fountain pens, brush pens, markers, gel pens, and fineliners. Nothing bled through.

It takes every pen you own

Fountain pens, brush pens, alcohol markers, gel pens, fineliners, ballpoints. All of them, on 160gsm. No bleed-through, and minimal ghosting across every pen tested.

Thickness is only half of it

Weight alone does not stop ink. Thovia's paper is internally sized, which means the resistance is built into the sheet rather than coated onto the surface. It cannot wear off, and it works the same on page one and page 192.

Still white in twenty years

The paper is woodfree, so the lignin that yellows cheap paper was removed before the sheet was made. It sits between pH 7 and 9, and the mineral content keeps it there as it ages. A notebook you finish is a notebook you keep.

Everything you asked about the paper

What paper do Thovia notebooks use?

Thovia notebooks use 160gsm acid-free white paper. It is the same paper in all five notebooks, from the A6 Devotion Habit Tracker to the 256-page Clarity Daily Planner. Most notebooks in this category run between 80 and 120gsm.

Does Thovia paper bleed through?

No. Thovia's 160gsm paper was tested with fountain pens, brush pens, alcohol markers, gel pens, fineliners, and ballpoints. None of them bled through, and ghosting was minimal across every pen tested.

Is Thovia paper fountain pen friendly?

Yes. Thovia paper was tested with fountain pens specifically and showed no bleed-through or feathering. At 160gsm with internal sizing, ink sits on the surface long enough to dry cleanly rather than spreading into the fibres.

What is the difference between bleed-through and ghosting?

Bleed-through is ink passing through the sheet and marking the reverse side, which makes the back of the page unusable. Ghosting is the faint shadow of writing visible from the other side with no ink transfer. Ghosting is cosmetic and happens on almost all paper with heavy ink. Bleed-through is a failure.

Will I see ghosting on Thovia paper?

Every Thovia notebook uses the same 160gsm acid-free white paper. Before anything was printed, it was tested with fountain pens, brush pens, markers, gel pens, and fineliners. No bleed-through, and minimal ghosting across every pen.

Is Thovia paper acid-free?

Yes. Thovia paper sits between pH 7 and 9, which is alkaline rather than acidic. Acidic paper yellows and grows brittle as it ages. Acid-free paper does not, which matters for a notebook you intend to keep after you finish it.

Is it the same paper in every Thovia notebook?

Yes. All five notebooks use identical 160gsm acid-free white paper. The A6 Devotion Habit Tracker performs exactly the same as the A5 notebooks, and there is one specification to publish rather than five.

Is Thovia paper recyclable?

Yes. Thovia paper is recyclable as waste paper and biodegradable. It has been tested by a third-party laboratory against RoHS and REACH restricted substance requirements.
