Materials You'll Love
Premium Paper
160gsm paper. Most notebooks use 80 to 100gsm, which is where ink bleeds through and shows on the other side. Our paper was tested with gel pens, fountain pens, brush pens, and markers. Nothing bleed through.
Cotton Hardcover
100% cotton twill, not faux leather. Faux leather peels and cracks at the corners within a year, no matter how good it looks in the store. Cotton twill doesn't peel. It wears in, not out.
Layflat Binding
Smyth-sewn, not glued. Opens flat and stays flat, no hand needed to hold it down. Glued spines are why journals split down the middle before they're finished.
FSC Certified
FSC® certified paper and packaging. Sourced from responsibly managed forests and verified by a third party.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I pre-order?
Pre-ordering gives you access to our launch pricing while helping support Thovia’s first production run. As an early customer, you’re helping us bring the brand to life and make future products possible.
When will my pre-order arrive?
Pre-orders are estimated to ship in November, with delivery expected between late November and early December. We’ll send tracking information as soon as your order ships.
Which ruling should I get?
Dotted is the flexible default and the one most people reach for, because it holds handwriting, lists and sketches without imposing a shape. Lined suits continuous writing. Blank suits drawing and anyone who finds printed guides distracting. All three are the same paper, same page count, same binding.
Is it dated?
No. The Thovia Freedom Notebook has no printed dates anywhere in it, only a numbered index and a page count. Start it any week of any year, and there's no calendar structure to skip or fall behind on.
Are the pages numbered, and is there an index?
Yes to both. Every page in the Thovia Freedom Notebook carries a light grey number in the outer corner, and there is a three-page index at the front with numbered lines. That pairing is what keeps one notebook usable for several things at once.
What is the paper weight?
The Thovia Freedom Notebook prints on 160gsm uncoated paper, natural white and acid-free. Every batch is pen-tested before it ships with Pilot G2, Zebra Sarasa, fine and medium fountain nibs, a Tombow brush pen, a Micron and a Mildliner.
Will a brush pen or fountain pen bleed through?
Gel, fineliner, fountain and standard brush pens are what the batch test covers. Heavy alcohol markers will show through any uncoated paper at this weight, and the honest answer is to swatch them on the pen-test page at the back before committing a spread.
Does it lie flat?
Yes, at 180 degrees. Smyth-sewn signatures, rounded reinforced spine, flexible cold-glue lining, cycle-tested to 500 full opens and closes with no page loss and no spine split.
Is there anything else printed in it?
No. No prompts, no sections, no trackers, no dates, no quotes, no headers. Three index pages, a scribble, and page numbers. That is the complete list.
What size is it?
A5, 148 by 210mm. The same trim as the Clarity, Growth and Ambition books, so they stack and shelve together.
